Hello, I have been working on a small project since about Friday. My ideals is a game with the style of a metroidvania, but instead of fighting bosses(although I do have a a few ideals for some bosses that won't require combat to defeat) the player collects movement abilities to progress to different areas of the map. Also, similar to Mario 64, there will be doors and these doors will open depending on the amount of orbs the player collects (hence the name Orbs, still pending) This is the first project I have created that I have put serious thought into.
I do have a backstory kind of in mind as I have designed thus far, but it needs to be further fleshed out before I can 100% commit to it, I would like to flesh out the story similar to dark souls.
I am no artist, but the art/animation is all crafted by me(aesprite), the sound effect for picking something up (bfxr), and of course gdscript code as well.
Systems Currently in place:
Orb Collection, and count in global variable
Door locking system
moving platforms
spike traps
Double Jump Ability
Celeste like respawn system
I just wanted to post a small video of my current progress to get some criticism/feedback/ideals for my ideal and implementation of the systems in the game.
