The 3D in Godot actually works better than many people assume, simply because a lot of the people using Godot are programmers (and not artists) and also the fact that most Godot users are relatively new to game development. So you end up with simpler projects, and since 2D is much easier to code, you end up with simple 2D games. But Godot can totally handle a complex 3D game.
Granted, the default shaders and effects are not on the same level as Unreal Engine. I can be honest about that. However, if you can make (or buy) quality artwork and code your own shaders, I don't see any reason you can't make a AAA game in Godot.
