@cybereality I did try your project just for fun and it works as expected. Nice simple sample by the way. you just need to animate your character. Thanks for your help.

I did start from scratch(on the Mac version) multiple times and I keep getting the same error. That is no coincidence. and how funny that I try the same thing in windows and it works just fine with no issues on the first try.

Look I am not a great programmer. I used to spend some of my free time for over 10 year programming in BlitzMax (don't judge). and I made some nice semiprofessional games. but since that language is pretty much dead I thought I would try to see how I would do in first game maker and now Godot. I started to like Godot much better but with this issue, I don't think I'll stay with it. specially if I am treated as if its my problem.

how many people here are using Mac product to program in GoDot?

I use Linux mostly. My Windows 11 machine died last night (I think my cat killed it somehow), and I have a Macbook Air, but I only really use it for exporting and signing Mac builds. I have some stuff to do today, but I can take a look later or tomorrow. However, I have not run into any major issues, and I doubt I'll find a problem.

so what do you think my issue is? I have done so much programming in my life to think I am doing the same mistake this many times on the same tutorial. I must have started the tutorial about 8 times and keep getting the same results. while on windows first time and it works fine. and it's not the only program I have tried it on. that's why my original discussion tittle is with key presses. it's because that program did the same thing.

I would greatly appreciate and be in debt to you, if you follow the YouTube tutorial above from 2:19 min to about minute 23:10 doing everything step by step in the tutorial and not skipping anything. it suppose to show first a character block moving right then the same block moving down. if it's working for you. it's not a lot of code I can run through it in about 2 minutes now that I have practically all of the code steps memorized. But I still keep getting the same frozen screen with a green block in the middle no movement

Okay, I will try it tomorrow. Maybe you are right, it's possible the tutorial was made for an older version.

I think I am getting closer to solving this issue. Is there a key press(combination) to disconnect a script from a node? somehow the script is getting disconnected from the player node when I edit or delete stuff from the script. I was going through another tutorial when it started doing the same as the tutorial from above. I created the player scene, I attached the script to it, I wrote some code and tested it and it worked fine. I had the player moving with the keyboard keys just fine. But after I went back and modified some of the code I tried to execute the player code and it just wouldn't take any input. it seemed as if it froze but then I noticed that the script wasn't attached to the player any more. I went back and attached it by drag and drop on the player node and it works fine now. I got to go and try the other tutorial again and see if that is the same issue.
