In my view, fear is manifestation of love towards ourselves. Think about it: fear allows us to survive. Fear is not our enemy per se. Whether this fear is irrational or not is another question. It's our perception of a potential threat which is the problem here, not fear. When you see a picture of a spider, you may experience fear, but this fear is not a reaction to a real threat, but a perceived threat, or something completely different which may evoke such a fearful response by the principle of association, when you react to your memories of the past instead of being present in the moment.
Also, changing the world is not something which is within our locus of control. But changing ourselves is totally within our control. And by changing yourself and inspiring others to change, making others believe in themselves, that people are powerful and not powerless: this automatically creates changes in the world as a byproduct.
The societal aspect also applies, of course, like ethical dilemmas that we experience on a daily basis.
