The spell checker is a feature of your browser. What browser and OS are you using? It's possible the dictionary got deleted somehow or another configuration error.
I'm with Firefox on Windows 10. What dictionary are you talking about? Do I have to install something additional?
The problem was that Firefox switched the language and it was no longer English. So the spellcheck was not for English and every word was wrong.
