I am writing this amid giving Godot 3.5 a whirl (by way of redoing one of my old projects) and amid the struggle with how much in flux the Godot 4 builds are in terms of usability.
I have to say, Godot is fortunate among game engines in general to have such an impressive backporting team. I can almost imagine us going all the way to Godot 3.9 with nearly all of version 4 backported before people make the actual jump to version 4 (at least if the backporting efforts keep accelerating as we have seen in the past year).
In addition, this type of thing is what will keep Godot growing as version 4, I believe, is still a ways off, so congrats to the team for ensuring we can get every larger bits of 4 while we wait.
