Seriously, as I type this message the preview is show right above it. You might have to scroll up when there's a lengthier thread.
You can preview replies, but not the first post in a topic. That's a known issue.
The easiest thing to do is to publish any post first, even an empty one, and then edit it — then it will be visible.
