Have you seen Nobody? Basically John Wick but he has a family. The bus scene is awesome.

It's on my watch list, but I haven't got around to it yet. I'll check it tomorrow. I see Christopher Lloyd is in it, and that is all I have to know. LOL. The Gray Man was also pretty good, not quite John Wick caliber but kind of similar to Bond or Bourne.

Yep, Christopher Lloyd was great as usual.
I was really looking forward to it (liked the trailer), it definitely didn't disappoint.
It's writer also wrote John Wick 1-3 and it's director made Hardcore Henry, which is another interesting action movie I really like (if you don't get motion sick, the entire film is POV fisheye).

Haven't seen the latest Matrix yet, being somewhat repelled by the reception so far. The first one was exceptional, in 1999.

I binged on the The Persuaders on youtube. I mean the Curtis/Moore tv series from the 70s. If people need to relax between lines of code or game levels. Also beautiful cars in there, in comparison to the SUV tanks of late.

I consider the new Matrix to be better than the first one. I mean, obviously it can't have the impact it did in 1999, but it recaptures the feel as best you can do in 2021 and made it modern. It's hard to explain why people didn't like the movie, without giving away too much. But the film is very meta and actively mocks the people that misunderstood the first movie and thought it was just action and had no concept of the philosophical implications. Maybe Lana went a little too far, it's sort of a comedy. I loved it, because I actually know what the Matrix is, but the people that are clueless had a bad reaction because the movie is making fun of them.

Possibly talked about it before (I hope someone has a master sheet tracking the topic insanity in this thread ^^), but I found it middling.

Fairly strong start, with the self-awareness of the dialogue up my alley, but found the recasting incredibly jarring in large part because they didn't just re-cast, they re-charactered. Also the second half just felt messy, but I've not given it a second watch yet to see if it clicks.

I could go off on a largely Disney-focused rant of how recharacterising characters 'is not the way', but it seems this IS the way now and we just have to accept it. Personally, I would prefer new characters with depth/struggles take the fore (e.g. Rogue One) than hollowing out/reducing original characters (Harrison Ford's iconic characters becoming deadbeat dads). Instead, Matrix introduces new characters but doesn't really establish them, while the recharacterised get more screen time with motives/actions that don't really match their previously established behaviours.

Anyway, can't say much more without giving spoilers.

😀 There goes my white balance. Some things look ridiculous today. Maybe not so much in decade, though. But it adds to the relaxing flair :-) Even if (what's relatively rare) someone lives up they do it with colourful style. There's one episode where en antagonist helps half a dynasty to take their rest in the family crypt, and they do it in sort of a ritualized way, painless passing away, burial procession, alcoholic beverages, and parting like one would say good bye (see you occasionally) after an afternoon tea.

Yes, the metaphysical concepts were what made the first movie so fascinating. Ok, maybe I'll get me a DVD one day, or a cheap box set. When I have a bookshelf again, that is. I am strict with that having a copy of a thing or ignoring it :-)

Yeah, Hardcore Henry was sick!!! I loved that movie (actually bought it for reference for my parkour fps I was considering making, still on the fence with where I'm going). However, I had my brother and his wife over and we watched on the 125" projector and they got really sick. They had to take a few breaks and almost didn't make it to the end. I guess I could take it from playing all those janky indie VR games for so long.

The thing that was sick about Hardcore Henry was that the movie was so low budget, I don't think they used computer effects. They just strapped a Go Pro on some crazy Russian dude and told him to go to town, LOL.

KanataEXE Hands down, videos that show the code and the person has to talk about what's going on. Music or silence is distracting imo.

KanataEXE I like dubs as well. However, I like very short video tutorials(5-10) dense with info. If I every miss something, I can just watch the video over or pause it. Of course, I do read articles when it's better than the video equivalent like in the case of KidsCanCode. I usually avoid their videos as much as I can but, I do enjoy their articles. When it comes to video tutorials, I think Garbaj set the standard.

I personally don't learn coding from videos. I need something written before me for quick browsing. I leave bookmarks to quickly access pages and chapters. And I actually need to code and make errors.

I find YouTube to be pretty low quality. Udemy has some good video tutorials from professionals.

cybereality Yes, though not everyone there are pros. Even those who are not though, usually know what they're talking about. I only had a small handful of courses I deemed absolutely useless. Again, watch the ratings.

Well, yeah. Obviously there is junk everywhere. You just read the reviews and watch the preview and you can usually make a good determination. I'd rather spend $10 - 15 on a quality instructor then waste hours on amateur YouTube videos (and remember, your time is not worth nothing).

The problem that they're talking about seems unsolvable. I'd just make games where no one would ever care about cheating but, I notice that this problems keeps coming up in multiplayer games more than anything else.
