Tho I have to admit my mind is strained trying to imagine if he'd say the same thing today. From what I know people in his day were much more jack of all tradesish than "modern masters".

That's probably not entirely fair. I use the word wings without knowing the Old Norse word vængir. The meaning of things changes with time. If one puts someone down for being a "jack of all trades", that just reflects our views, not shame for misrepresenting Shakespeare. Although I have regularly heard jack of all trades as a positive title.
